Job Description:
We're hiring a Legal Intern to join our Employment Law team!
Patterson Companies has an exciting opportunity to participate in our summer Internship Program! This internship runs from late May through August of 2025. The legal intern will participate in meaningful work, along with making contributions to team efforts in our fast paced, people first corporate environment. This internship will be a hybrid position working both remotely and on-site at our corporate office located in Mendota Heights, MN.
Essential Functions

This position will assist the employment law team with a variety of tasks related to emerging legislation, advice giving, litigation, and employment law practices. Tasks might include the following, depending on need:
Perform legal research, including gathering and analyzing multi-state requirements on employment law legislation. Look for patterns and evaluate application to organization practices and policies.
Correspond with members of the employment law team to gather and organize information and documents. May conduct interviews and relay information and instructions at the direction of counsel.
Summarize documents and prepare chronologies, workflows, reports and similar documents
Organize files and distribute information and resources as instructed by counsel
Design employment law risk audits; test and review audit results and establish appropriate action plans to mitigate legal risk.
Review files prepared by HR in response to employee personnel file requests in order to comply with jurisdiction requirements.
Schedule and attend meetings, take notes and coordinate follow-up actions as needed
Required Qualifications
2L or 3L student at an accredited law school
1Ls with professional work experience will be considered
Proficiency with Office products to include MS Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MS Visio, MS Forms
Knowledge of or experience with Affirmative Action Plan and EEO Compliance requirements

Physical Demands
Operating a computer or other office devices for the majority of the workday
Ability to communicate with others in person, over the phone, on video calls, and in writing.
Ability understand and effectively exchange accurate information with others such as coworkers, customers and vendors
Ability able to read, understand, and interpret various electronic and written documents.
Environmental Factors
Our corporate office is in an environment in which team members occupy desks in assigned areas or at meeting/collaboration spaces within the building. The building’s primary work areas consist of desks, chairs, computers and other office equipment and devices for professional services.

The starting pay for this role is $20 - $25 per hour.
