DAAD Study Scholarships for a Masters in Germany: apply by 15 October
Germany funds international graduates for a full Masters, with a monthly stipend, travel allowance and health insurance. Reported deadline is 15 October 2026 for courses starting October 2027.
Who can apply
- A completed Bachelors degree, usually with at least two years of work experience for the development-related programmes
- Applying for a Masters at a German university
- Strong academic record, and a clear reason why this course fits your work
What you get
A monthly stipend that covers living costs in Germany, plus travel allowance, health insurance and in many cases a German language course before the programme starts. Most German public universities charge no tuition fee, so this is close to full funding.
How to apply
Applications go through the DAAD portal, and each programme lists its own documents. Start at least two months before the deadline: this application needs recommendation letters and a well-argued motivation letter, neither of which can be produced in a week.
A note for anyone reading this from a smaller college: DAAD does not require a famous university on your degree. It asks for a clear plan and a good reason.
