HDFC Parivartan ECSS 2026-27 for school students: ₹15,000 to ₹18,000, last date 31 August
For students in Classes 1 to 12 and in diploma, ITI or polytechnic courses, from families earning ₹2.5 lakh a year or less. Pays ₹15,000 for Classes 1 to 6 and ₹18,000 from Class 7 upward, as a one-time grant. You need 55% in your last qualifying exam. Preference goes to families hit by a crisis in the last three years — a death, a job loss, a serious illness, a disaster. Applications close 31 August 2026.
HDFC Bank's CSR arm, Parivartan, runs a scholarship called ECSS — Educational Crisis Scholarship Support. The name is the whole idea. It is not a pure merit prize and it is not a pure means test. It is money for a student who was doing fine until something happened at home, and is now at risk of dropping out.
The 2026-27 cycle is open, and the component with a published deadline is the school one: Classes 1 to 12, plus diploma, ITI and polytechnic students. Last date 31 August 2026.
Who can apply
- Indian nationals only
- Currently studying in Classes 1 to 12, or in a diploma, ITI or polytechnic course, at a private, government or government-aided school
- At least 55% in the previous qualifying examination
- Annual family income of ₹2.5 lakh or less
For diploma students there is one restriction worth catching early: only a diploma taken after Class 12 is eligible. A diploma entered after Class 10 is not.
The crisis part, and why it matters
The programme says preference goes to applicants "facing personal or family crises that have occurred during the past three years due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out".
This is not a box you tick. The programme lists exactly which documents it accepts as proof, and each one maps to a specific kind of crisis:
- Death of an earning family member — death certificate
- Job loss — an official letter from the employer
- Self-employment failure — a notarised affidavit from a Notary Public
- Illness or a medical emergency — a medical report or a prescription from a certified doctor
- Natural disaster — an official government document confirming the impact
If your family has been through one of these, the document is what turns your application from one of thousands into one the reviewer can act on. Start collecting it now, not on 30 August. An employer letter or a notarised affidavit takes days.
If your family has not been through a crisis, you can still apply — it is a preference, not a bar. But be realistic about where you stand in the queue.
What you get
- Class 1 to 6 — ₹15,000
- Class 7 to 12, diploma, ITI and polytechnic — ₹18,000
This is a one-time grant for the year, not a monthly stipend.
Documents to keep ready
- Passport-size photograph
- Previous year's marksheets (2025-26)
- Government-issued identity proof of the applicant
- Current year admission proof for 2026-27 — a fee receipt, admission letter, institution ID card or bonafide certificate
- Bank account details — a copy of the passbook or a cancelled cheque, in the applicant's or a parent's name
- Income proof: any one of an income proof issued by the Gram Panchayat, Ward Councillor or Sarpanch; one issued by the SDM, DM, CO or Tehsildar; or an affidavit
- Proof of the family or personal crisis, if applicable
How to apply
Applications go through the Apply Now button on parivartanecss.com, which takes you to the application form hosted on Buddy4Study. You log in with an existing Buddy4Study account or register with an email, mobile number or Google account, then click Start Application, fill the form, upload the documents, preview and submit.
There is no application fee. If anyone asks you to pay to apply for this or to "improve your chances", it is not part of the programme.
Two things to know about the source
First, the programme's own site is operated by Buddy4Study on HDFC Bank's behalf — the bank funds it under Parivartan and the site carries a disclaimer to that effect. The deadline, amounts and eligibility above are quoted from that programme site, which is also where the application form lives.
Second, the site still carries some leftover 2025-26 text in places, including in one of the application steps. The 2026-27 heading, the 2026-27 document list and the 31 August 2026 deadline are unambiguous, but if a page you land on says 2025-26, that is stale text and not a second, different cycle.
One thing this post does not cover
The About paragraph on the programme page mentions UG and PG students and financial assistance of "up to INR 75,000". At the time of checking, no UG or PG scholarship block and no UG or PG deadline had been published — only the school component. So this post is about the school component only, and the ₹15,000 and ₹18,000 above are the amounts actually published against it. We will add the UG and PG half the day it appears with a date on it.
