Private & CSR HDFC Bank (Parivartan CSR programme)

For students in a graduation course — general courses like BCom, BSc and BA, or professional ones like BTech, MBBS, LLB, B Arch and Nursing — from families earning ₹2.5 lakh a year or less. Pays ₹30,000 for a general course and ₹50,000 for a professional one, as a one-time grant. You need 55% in your last qualifying exam. Preference goes to students whose family has been through a crisis in the last three years. Last date 31 August 2026.

HDFC Bank's CSR arm, Parivartan, runs a scholarship called ECSS — Educational Crisis Scholarship Support. The name carries the idea. It is not a pure merit prize and it is not a pure means test. It is money for a student who was managing until something happened at home, and is now at risk of dropping out.

We already cover the school half of this programme. This page is the undergraduate half, which is a separate scholarship with its own application form, its own eligibility list and its own benefit figures. If you are in Class 1 to 12, or in a diploma, ITI or polytechnic course, the school page is the one you want.

Who can apply

- You are an Indian national
- You are pursuing a graduation course in a recognised college or university in India. The programme's own list names general courses — BCom, BSc, BA and similar — and professional courses — BTech, MBBS, LLB, B Arch, Nursing
- You passed the previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks
- Your annual family income is ₹2.5 lakh or less

What you get

- General undergraduate courses — ₹30,000
- Professional undergraduate courses — ₹50,000

It is a one-time grant, not a per-year commitment. Which of the two figures applies is decided by the course you are in, so a BSc and a BTech applying on the same day are applying for different amounts.

The crisis part, which is the whole point of the scheme

Preference goes to applicants who are facing a personal or family crisis that occurred during the past three years, because of which they can no longer bear the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out.

This is not a tie-breaker buried in the fine print. It is the programme's stated purpose, and it shapes the documents you will be asked for. The programme lists, among others, a medical report or a prescription from a certified doctor where the crisis is an illness or medical emergency, and an official government document confirming impact where it is a natural disaster.

If your family has been through a death, a job loss, a serious illness or a disaster in the last three years, gather that proof before you start the form. If nothing of the kind has happened, you can still apply — the preference is a preference, not a bar.

Documents to keep ready

- Passport size photograph
- Previous year's marksheet (2024-25 for the undergraduate component)
- Identity proof — Aadhaar card, Voter ID or Driving Licence
- Current year admission proof
- Income proof
- Bank account details
- Crisis documentation, where it applies

How to apply

Apply on the programme's own site, parivartanecss.com. The undergraduate block has its own Apply Now button, separate from the school and postgraduate ones — make sure you are on the undergraduate form before you start filling it.

The deadline published against the undergraduate block is 31 August 2026.

There is no fee to apply, and nobody needs to be paid to fill this form for you.

Where this scholarship's information comes from

Worth stating plainly, because it affects how you should read any other page about this scheme. The site parivartanecss.com is operated by Buddy4Study; HDFC Bank's role, in the site's own words, is as the funding partner under its CSR initiative Parivartan. That site is the programme's dedicated home and the place the application actually happens, which is why we use it. Dates quoted for this scheme on general scholarship-listing sites are not the same thing and have been wrong before for other programmes. Check the programme site before you rely on a date.

Dates checked on 14 August 2026. Deadlines in India move without notice, so confirm on the official portal linked above before you apply.

Published 14 Aug 2026. Dates change without warning, so check the official site before you apply. We never take your application, your documents or your money. You apply directly, always.
