How to check your NSP scholarship application status
Submitting the form is not the end. Your institution has to verify it, and then a second level often has to approve it. Here is how to see where yours is stuck.
The stages your application passes through
1. You submit it
2. Your institution verifies it (this is where most applications sit)
3. A district or state level check, depending on the scheme
4. Payment through DBT
How to check
Log in to the National Scholarship Portal with your application or OTR number and open the status page. It shows which stage you are at.
If it says pending at institute level
This is the most common situation and it is not something the portal will solve for you. Go to your college scholarship or exam cell, give them your application number, and ask them to verify it. Institutions have their own verification deadline, which falls after the student deadline, and applications do get missed.
If it says defective or rejected
Read the reason given. Many rejections are document mismatches that can be corrected and resubmitted while the window is still open, which is another reason not to apply on the last day.
If it says approved but no money arrived
That is almost always Aadhaar seeding. See our guide on that.
