The part most pages do not tell you
The scheme has a fixed 25,000 slots a year, and that number includes renewals. The official guidelines say fresh applications are considered only against the slots left over after all renewal cases are processed. So meeting every condition does not by itself guarantee the scholarship — apply early and apply carefully, because a clean, fully documented application is what survives the shortlist.
Two more conditions worth knowing: not more than two children with disabilities of the same parents can receive this benefit (a twin as the second child is allowed), and you cannot hold another scholarship or stipend at the same time. Fifty per cent of slots are reserved for female candidates.
Documents to keep ready

- UDID card or UDID enrolment proof

- Bank passbook and a passport-size photo
How to apply
Apply online at scholarships.gov.in. Complete your One Time Registration first if you have not already, then submit under the Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities. Your school then verifies the application on the portal, so tell your school office once you have submitted — an application nobody verifies goes nowhere.
