Approved does not mean paid. Here is the path the money takes, how long each step usually sits, and what to do when it stops moving.

The path

1. Your application is verified by your institution
2. It is sanctioned at the department level
3. The amount is released through DBT to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account

What DBT means for you

Direct Benefit Transfer sends money to the account mapped to your Aadhaar in the NPCI system. It does not use the account number you typed into the form. This is why Aadhaar seeding decides whether you get paid.

How long it takes

It varies by scheme and state, and payment commonly comes months after the deadline, not weeks. Delay alone is not evidence of a problem.

When to actually worry

- The portal shows sanctioned or paid, but your account shows nothing after several weeks
- The portal still shows pending at institute level well after the verification deadline

What to do

Start with your institution's scholarship cell, since they can see the departmental status. Then check Aadhaar seeding at your bank. Those two account for most stuck payments.

Keep your application number written down somewhere safe. Every conversation about a delayed payment starts with it.
