Guide

The document everything depends on

A disability certificate issued by a competent medical authority, stating your percentage of disability. Most schemes require 40% or more. A UDID card is increasingly asked for as well, so if you do not have one, start that application alongside.

What exists

  • Pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for students with disabilities, run through the National Scholarship Portal
  • Top-class education scholarships for students with disabilities in selected institutions
  • AICTE Saksham, ₹50,000 a year for AICTE-approved technical degree and diploma courses
  • State schemes, which often add their own support on top

What to check on each scheme

  • The minimum disability percentage
  • Whether a UDID card is mandatory or a certificate is enough
  • The income limit, which differs from the general schemes in some cases

A practical note

Getting or renewing a disability certificate can take time and repeat visits. If yours is close to expiry, renew it before the scholarship season rather than during it.

We re-check every deadline on its official source. If this one moves, this page moves with it. How we check every date.
