Why scholarship applications get rejected in India
Most rejections are not about merit. They are name mismatches, stale certificates, unverified forms and Aadhaar problems. Every one of them is avoidable if you know about it in advance.

Name mismatch
Your name on Aadhaar, your marksheet and your bank account must match. A middle name on one and not on another is enough to fail an automated check. Fix the mismatch before you apply.
An income or caste certificate that is too old
Many schemes want a certificate issued in the current financial year. An old one that is still technically valid may still be rejected.
The institution never verified it
You submitted, but your college did not complete its step. The portal shows this as pending at institute level. Chase your scholarship cell.
Aadhaar not seeded with the bank account
The application is approved, the money is released, and it goes nowhere. See our Aadhaar seeding guide.
Applying under the wrong scheme or portal
State and central schemes are different portals with different rules. Applying for a state scheme on NSP, or on the wrong departmental portal, means it is never seen.
Duplicate or multiple applications
NSP allows one merit-based scholarship plus welfare schemes as eligible. Multiple overlapping applications can get all of them flagged.
Uploading unreadable documents
A blurred photo of a certificate is a rejection. Scan flat, in daylight, and check the file opens before uploading.
