Chhattisgarh scholarship for students with disabilities 2026-27: Class 1 to 12, last date 30 September
For regular students of Class 1 to 12 in Chhattisgarh with 40% or more disability. ₹150 a month in Classes 1 to 5, ₹170 in Classes 6 to 8 and ₹190 in Classes 9 to 12, paid for up to 10 months. There is no income limit at all up to Class 8; above that the family income limit is ₹2 lakh for pre-matric and ₹2.5 lakh for post-matric. You need a disability certificate, Chhattisgarh domicile and a pass in last year's exam. On the NSP until 30 September 2026.
This is Chhattisgarh's own scholarship for disabled schoolchildren, run by the state Social Welfare Department, and it covers the whole school span — Class 1 all the way to Class 12. The stated purpose is to give financial help to disabled students so their families are encouraged to keep them in school.
The amounts are modest. What makes this scheme worth knowing about is the income rule, which is more generous than almost anything else on this site.
The income rule, stated plainly
- Up to Class 8 — there is no income limit at all. The guidelines say no income limit has been fixed for scholarships up to the pre-secondary level.
- Pre-matric — the parent's or guardian's annual income must be up to ₹2,00,000
- Post-matric — up to ₹2,50,000
If your child is in primary or middle school and you have been skipping scholarship forms because your income is above the usual ₹2.5 lakh line, this one does not have that line.
Who can apply
- A regular student of Class 1 to 12
- 40 per cent disability or more
- The applicant is a resident of Chhattisgarh
- Passed the previous examination
- Within the income limits above, where they apply
What you get, per month
The rate has two parts — the scholarship itself and a maintenance allowance. The guidelines print both, and the total is what reaches you:
- Primary level, Class 1 to 5 — ₹100 scholarship plus ₹50 maintenance allowance = ₹150
- Pre-secondary level, Class 6 to 8 — ₹120 plus ₹50 = ₹170
- Pre-matric and post-matric level, Class 9 to 12 — ₹190, with no separate maintenance allowance
The money is payable for a maximum of 10 months, from July to April, according to when the student was admitted to school.
Documents to keep ready
The guidelines list these, and it is worth collecting them before you sit down at the portal:
- Disability certificate
- Educational certificate
- Residence certificate
- Parent's or guardian's income certificate — needed for Class 9 to 12 only
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook
- Mobile number
- Email ID
Note which one is missing from that list for younger children: no income certificate is required up to Class 8, which follows from there being no income limit. That removes the single slowest document from the process for primary and middle school families.
How it is checked and paid
Applications received online are verified at two levels — by the institution where the student studies, and by the district office of the Social Welfare Department. An application not verified by the institution, or by the district office, or by both, is treated as invalid.
Payment is by Direct Benefit Transfer into the student's bank account. The guidelines make the next point mandatory, not advisory: the bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar for the scholarship to be disbursed without interruption. If nothing has arrived and everything else looks right, this is the first thing to check.
How to apply
Apply online on the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in. A first-time applicant has to register on the portal as a new applicant, filling the registration form with accurate details exactly as they appear on the documents. After registering, log in and apply.
The guidelines advise not changing your mobile number for the duration of the scholarship.
On the portal, this scheme appears in two rows — one for Class 1 to 10 and one for Class 11 and 12 — because the portal splits it by stage. Both rows show the scheme open from 7 July 2026, with student applications accepted until 30 September 2026. It is one scheme with one set of rules; apply under the row that matches the class the student is in.
