LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship: last date 30 September

The last date is 30 September 2026, and only online applications are accepted. Everything below is from LIC's own Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2026 notification.

There are two separate scholarships here, and which one you apply for depends on the exam you have just passed.

General Scholarship — after Class 12 or a diploma

• Passed Class XII or its equivalent with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA, in the academic year 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26
• Taken admission in 2026-27 to the first year of Medicine (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS), Engineering (BE, BTech, BArch), graduation in any discipline, an integrated course, a diploma in any field, a vocational course, or a course at an Industrial Training Institute
• Parents' or guardian's annual income from all sources not more than ₹4,50,000

What you get, each year, in two equal instalments:

Special Scholarship — after Class 10

• Passed Class X or its equivalent with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA, in 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26
• Taken admission in 2026-27 to the first year of Intermediate or 10+2, a vocational or diploma course, or an ITI
• The same income limit: ₹4,50,000 a year

You get ₹15,000 a year, in two instalments of ₹7,500.

How many are given, and who you compete against. Each of LIC's 112 Divisional Offices selects 120 students — 80 General, split 40 male and 40 female, and 40 Special, split 20 boys and 20 girls. Gender slots are interchangeable if one side falls short. Your application is routed to a Division automatically by the PIN code of your address, so you are ranked against your own Division, not the whole country.

How you are selected. On the percentage of marks in Class 12 or Class 10, as applicable — nothing else. If two candidates tie on marks, the one with lower parental income is preferred. If they tie on income too, LIC officials assess the family's financial need. Where marks tie, a candidate not already receiving any other scholarship is preferred over one who is.

Who is excluded. Read this before you spend time on the form.

• Post-graduation is not covered. Integrated courses that combine graduation and post-graduation are covered, for their whole duration.
• Correspondence, part-time, evening or night classes, and open universities are not eligible.
• Self-study courses — Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Cost Accountant (ICMAI) and the like are not eligible.
• Holding a scholarship from another trust or institution disqualifies you. A government scholarship, state or central, does not.
• As a rule, one student per family. This is relaxed to two if the later applicant is female, or if both are female.

Lateral entry counts. If you join the second year of an engineering degree, or the first year of one, after a diploma, you are eligible — provided you passed that diploma with 60% or equivalent in 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.

Keeping it, year after year. Medicine and Engineering need 55% in the previous annual or semester examination. Graduation and other courses need 50%. The Special Scholarship needs 50% in the first yearly examination. In every case you must pass all subjects. Clearing a subject on grace marks, or clearing a failed subject in a later semester, makes you ineligible even if your overall percentage is fine.

When the money arrives. The first instalment falls due on 1 September 2026 and the second on 1 February 2027. The second is not automatic — you claim it by submitting your first-semester result, or an attendance certificate plus a declaration if your college holds no semester examinations. Payment is by NEFT into your own account, so it must be active rather than dormant, and if selected you will need to give the IFSC code and a cancelled cheque in your name.

The income certificate, exactly as asked for. It must come from a competent revenue authority — Tehsildar, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Collector, Revenue Circle Officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, or an authorised Panchayat or Municipality officer — and state the gross annual income of both parents from all sources, including agricultural income, for the preceding financial year. A certificate issued earlier is accepted if it is valid for that year. You must also authorise LIC to use your PAN and e-Aadhaar number.

Where to apply. Only online, through the link on LIC's home page at licindia.in. You will receive an acknowledgement email naming the Divisional Office that will handle your case, and all further correspondence goes through them — so give an email address and phone number you actually check.

One trap worth knowing. Applications are processed in two phases, preliminary and final. Clearing the preliminary stage is not selection: the Divisional Office will contact you for documents, and if you miss the time frame they give you, your application is dropped before final evaluation.
